samsung galaxy buds review

They’re a great alternative if you’re already deep in Amazon’s Alexa ecosystem.
There's no promise of them surviving a very sweaty workout, being rinsed off, or being worn in heavy rain. The Galaxy Buds are Samsung’s answer to Apple’s true wireless AirPods. The previously-mentioned Edifier TWS NB might be an even better fit, since they incorporate good active noise cancellation for $10 less. Apple's Airpods, while good, can have a distant, airy quality about them.

Simply place the buds in the charging case, put it on the back of the phone, and the Buds will start drawing power from the phone in seconds. Tom's Guide is part of Future US Inc, an international media group and leading digital publisher.

Overall, this is a very strong contender in the true wireless realm, and priced fairly, too.

Opening the charging case, it’s immediately evident that Samsung’s follow-up to the 2018 Gear IconX are significantly smaller and lighter than their predecessor, allowing them to sit more comfortably in your ears.An ergonomic triangular design integrates the comfortable rub…

My favorite equalizer mode turned out to be the “Dynamic” setting, which seems to adjust the sound to best suit whatever you’re listening to at the time. It's different with the Galaxy Buds. Other close competitors to the Galaxy Buds — Apple’s AirPods and Jabra’s Elite Active 65t  and Jabra Elite 75t — come with steeper sticker prices, though you might be able to find the former Jabra model at a discount now that the 75t have arrived. The arrival of the new AirPods could further diminish the Galaxy Buds time in the sun. The buds and rear are made from a matte-white plastic. Samsung is no stranger to true wireless earphones, and the Galaxy Buds are the company's best pair yet. And that’s not the only way Samsung has geared its latest earbuds toward those who like to break a sweat: The Galaxy Buds have an IPX2 rating, which means they are protected against dripping water (or sweat). They perhaps don't sound as rich as some other headphones I've used, notably, full-size over-ear solutions like the Marshalll Monitor II, which I currently regard as a top dog out of all the headsets I've used for the pure audio experience. In fact, I haven't experienced anything that seamless since the AirPods. Again, though, the higher register brass, strings, and vocals are dutifully represented—they have a crisp, clear presence that is perfectly balanced with the slightly enhanced lows.

At $129.99, they're reasonably priced for the category, and they get most things right, from the audio (which is tuned by AKG) to the secure fit and no-nonsense, easy-to-operate design.

This was particularly annoying mid-workout. I picked up these headphones a short while ago, and while there's a lot to love, they've also bean a little frustrating. My final complaint is the call quality on these things. We’ll always tell you what we find. The Galaxy Buds come in a small box with the charging case, a long USB type-C cable, three sets of silicone eartips and sport fins, and a small user guide.

The 0.2-ounce, 0.7 x 0.9 x 0.8-inch buds nestled comfortably into my ear canal, with the wing resting gently against my concha.

But the case, which is far smaller than competing sets, managed only one and a half charges – well below that of competing products.

If you have the perfect ears for the Galaxy Buds Live earbuds, you'll have a truly magical time with this product. And since I'm in the middle of packing for a move, finding that small, white gadget in the debris was like looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack. PCMag Digital Group.

If you’re an Android or Samsung fan who’s after a set of true wireless then you could do a lot worse than the Galaxy Buds. Speaking of pleasant, the sound reproduction on these earbuds is excellent. It's almost as if everybody has different ears or something, isn't it?

I listened to a wide variety of music during my time with the headphones, playing everything from The Beatles to Kendrick Lamar.

I could clearly hear my mom when I called her, but she sounded like she was talking through a sound-dampening filter. Like many of the higher-end true wireless options available, the Galaxy Buds have an auto-pause function—and unlike some of the others we've tested, it doesn't annoyingly pause by accident when you adjust an earpiece. And while the Galaxy Buds are touted as being fitness-friendly, they're barely water resisistant.

Despite the issues I've had wearing them, I do personally enjoy them overall and do not regret my purchase.

From a design point of view, the Galaxy Buds are excellent and a clear step-up on the Apple AirPods. If you're hunting for one of the best headphones for Skype or Zoom for working from home, these probably aren't it.

That’s exactly what Samsung intends to do with the Galaxy Buds Live – launched last month. Almost no one wants their earphones to automatically unpause when you place them back in. It was loud enough to converse, but she sounded really muffled. Aside from the insanely small Earin M-2, you’ll struggle to find a more discrete set of true wireless earphones.

The Galaxy Buds’ case offers just seven hours of additional battery life, while competitors offer 20-30 hours or more. Contributing Editor Tim Gideon has been writing for PCMag since 2006. The Galaxy Buds Live are the latest pair of truly wireless earbuds from Samsung.
