It's worth watching . The kids mostly behave smartly, except when they inexplicably leave a certain character behind over and over again—“He’ll be fine!”—and unlike the characters in most teen horror flicks, I didn’t want them all to die horribly. Not only that, the characters slowly get stupider as the movie progresses, and the movie ends on a note that seems quite unbelievable considering only a few days have passed since things started to go wrong.

The replaced plots provoked only laughter and derision among humans and the invasion was an abysmal failure. I’m still waiting for the definitive 21st Century retelling of the familiar body snatchers story, but until then, we could do much worse than Assimilate. There's nothing wrong with creating a derivative film or re-imagining or remaking an old title, but to do so without an ounce of originality is beyond disappointing.

It's basically Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but it's well done. If you haven't seen the originals, do yourself a favor before watching this tripe and watch them before attempting to review this film. The aliens' plan was fiendishly clever, to gradually assimilate all movie plots and replace them with identical clones. I was on the edge of my chair for much of the movie. Or watch The Invasion. Maybe the fact that I haven't seen the Invasion of the Body Snatchers since I was a kid and never have seen the '07 remake (this isnt the type of story I gravitate to usually) make it easier for me to like this one.

This film certainly feels like a smaller story than the novel or the first three film adaptations, but it’s worlds better than the horrible 2007 studio adaptation, The Invasion. I wish they would have used Cam Gigandet more in this movie, I think he was the best part of it. Directed by John Murlowski. The movie feels really slow, tired, old-fashioned, and at times really dull despite a few modern elements thrown in like the Internet. It seems to me that when I am set up to believe a movie is probably going to be a not-so-great experience, I wind up liking it.
