who is beth in tenerife sea

"Tenerife Sea" is a song by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. This is going to be very difficult to reconcile with the “we are just friends” official Sheeran/Swift party line, but probably that’s an intentional thing. Not to be cynical, but I won’t be surprised to see Taylor Swift now come out with one or more songs about Ed that suggests she loves him too. Twitter has locked down its thread so that low-Follower Twitter users (like me) cannot be seen in the public view of the Twitter thread. As usual, the best way to have your Tweet be seen is to put it on Tumblr. Add to this the fact that the only pictures of Ed in the audience at the Grammy Awards do not show him with Beth, or any blonde blue-eyed woman. I am sure there is no intentional disrespect, but if you take the position that the song is about Beth, the introduction at Madison Square Garden seems to imply that a legend of the business Elton John, and a soon-to-be-legend Taylor Swift, made no sense to Ed, but Beth did? It just makes it hard to deny that one of the two would have liked to have been dating. Several people have heard Ed claiming that Tenerife Sea is about his ex-girlfriend Beth, who he was dating at the time of the Grammy Awards. Why would you introduce a song with the words “I found that the only sense that was coming out of anyone’s lips was from this one person” when you had also indicated in other places that you spent two hours with Elton John and Taylor Swift on the same night? The insertion of the word Beth appears to be an after-thought here, not a necessary part of the song. The introduction to the song that Ed gave at Madison Square Garden suggests that, at the Grammy Awards, only the person the song is written about was making any sense to him in an ocean of confused voices. https://twitter.com/poetrydude66/status/395698463133798400. The song itself is a beauty, and it has a very similar style to James Taylor. It’s real head-over-heels-in-love stuff. The first four lines are literally describing Taylor Swift's appearance. Oh, yeah, I am sure that is a coincidence.

But if this is true, the introduction given to this song at Madison Square Garden can only be described as bizarre. It entered the UK Singles Chart at number 93. Tenerife Sea is a very aggressive love song. It turns out the truth may be more elusive. I think my Tweet to Ed Sheeran’s manager Stuart Camp - shown in the image above - adequately summarizes my thoughts at the time on this subject. The clues, unfortunately, do not match up exactly with things Ed Sheeran has said outside of performances. :)    At her 1989 Secret Sessions Taylor has been playing Tenerife Sea repeatedly during intermissions. Ed Sheeran’s Tenerife Sea Lyrics For Taylor Swift? Tenerife Sea indeed, Ed Sheeran. If there is a different Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran song whose lyrics you would like to have analyzed, drop me a line. The song was released on 20 June 2014 as part of his second studio album, x. And Taylor always has a look in her eye that Ed sort of described.

In fact, it feels to me like Ed Sheeran may become the next James Taylor, and those are some pretty big shoes to fill. And - Ed - if you need any album art for this song, have I got an image for you.

Several people have heard Ed claiming that Tenerife Sea is about his ex-girlfriend Beth, who he was dating at the time of the Grammy Awards. Okay, you two, just work it. Moaning “So In Love” over and over is not leaving things to the imagination. And the song does not mean they are dating. The song was debuted on 29 October 2013, at Madison Square Garden. Ed’s talent is big enough to fulfill that destiny. Consider the obvious song title Tenerife Sea, whose initials suggest Taylor Swift. And all of this is consistent with their being just friends. :)   Please see my impressionist painting of Ed Sheeran serenading Taylor Swift. :), [UPDATE in early October 2014:   Ed takes iPhone photos of his audiences at each of his shows, but before he plays Tenerife Sea he takes a Polaroid. “Tenerife Sea” is a promotional single dropped from Ed Sheeran’s second album. Is this all intentional misdirection to make fans puzzle over the meaning? The song creates a lot of drama, and drama creates free press, and free press sells records. If the word is Beth, you can only say the lyric is completely out of place because nothing else in the song prepares you for that. The "lies" that they are surrounded by in the second set of lines are the Sweeran rumors. I guess when a company like Twitter goes public, it uses all that extra money to kill the spirit of all of its users. Only Ed knows the real truth about Tenerife Sea… The title, “Tenerife Sea”, is My InterpretationFirst off, Tenerife Sea and Taylor Swift have the same initials.

And does anyone seriously believe there could be any other person at this award show who a) he respected enough professionally; b) was in a close personal relationship with; and c) had enough time to spend with at the Grammys between performances and his time with Taylor? Only Ed knows the real truth about Tenerife Sea, of course. Consider that the last line of the song matches up with the song lyrics “I just wanna know you better now” from the well-known duet Ed Sheeran does with Taylor Swift named “Everything Has Changed.”   The printed version of the song calls out the name “Beth” whereas the original performance of the song clearly uses the work “Back”.

Let’s look for clues about the song’s meaning. So how can we can ignore the fact that Ed had a two hour discussion about the music industry with Taylor Swift on the night of the Grammy Awards that he had previously discussed in other interviews? So there are probably hundreds of responses from many others just like me that are all getting hidden by Twitter.

Fueling the fandom “shipping” them as a couple is just good business. I am sure he could make sense of all of this, but as he presented it all these facts are just confusing at best. THIRTEEN words on the THIRTEENTH LINE of the song. :) :)  I thought that - yes - the new Ed Sheeran song “Tenerife Sea” (formerly known as “So In Love”) is blatantly and obviously about Taylor Swift, and is about as subtle as a sledgehammer. Here is a link to the lyrics for Ed Sheeran’s Tenerife Sea. Such internal contradictions between what the song suggests and what Ed says in public may mean the real meaning of this song stays with Ed Sheeran. :) ].
