split second movie review

It's a Rutger Hauer movie you mindless spawns of ignorance! This movie has all the great elements of action and horror, with a bit of the absurd to border on a cult film. Its consigned to forever be overlooked, stepped on and pushed away. Cinemark Split Second takes its dumbness too seriously to be fun.

It's not about wasting his talent, it's about earning money doing fun stuff that people will watch over and over again through the years when it shows up on SciFi or Spike because it's tongue-in-cheek fare that makes no bones about being anything deeper or more meaningful than an alien's irrational fear of toilet paper. You're almost there! Liked the ridiculous ending of Rutger pulling out the heart of the monster, and while it pumped in his hand, he shot it to smithereens. If you appreciate classics like "Big Trouble in Little China", "Tango and Cash", "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai…", it means you have the sense of humor to add this one to the collection.

Anyone with a brain knows before buying it, renting it, that it it ain't Oscar material folks. He lives on Ra-Ra's (chocolate mini donuts), coffee and nicotine. But all in all, the film succeeds in delivering 90 minutes of rewatchable entertainment. Has been ever since Bladerunner. There is enough gore, monsters and violence to satisfy but a good plot is sadly lacking and worst of all, they even managed to make Kim Catrall look unattractive. But it's also a b-movie of extraordinary magnitude. Yet another movie that wastes the abilities of Rutger Hauer, SPLIT SECOND also wastes the time of anyone foolish enough to watch it. What made it? The resulting clash of policing styles produces a lot of the movie's humor. |, April 17, 2018 If your in the mood for a good b sci-fi action movie check it out.

They didn't give him much to work with but he plays his role great. Everyone thinks he's gone off the sane train as he carries "big big guns" and is often called paranoid.

Split Second was a blast to watch. Split Second is a movie that can be described as "Blade Runner meets Predator meets Lethal Weapon". As a throwaway 80's B-movie you could do much worse.

You got Rutger who is the epitome of the rogue cop. So is the scene with Durkin's wife when he and Stone just drop in to warn her.

For a b-movie that's right up there with Army of Darkness for amusement value and quotable lines, watch Split Second. As an aside, I find it amusing that Stone's apartment is a mess with pigeons living in it, while the gun cabinet is the only thing that's neat and tidy.

Awesomely stupid, incredibly inept, a complete waste of time. Hauer, as is his way, plays the rough and silent type, this time a cop with Scot Duncan as his partner. I got the feeling that some of the movie ended up being edited out. This is one of those weird movies from the early 90's that both very much feels like it should have had a theater run and also gone direct to video. Rutger Hauer plays a slightly psychotic cop in a futuristic London facing a supernatural threat. As a throwaway 80's B-movie you could do much worse. Forgot your password? But it has this dark, foreboding, impending, bloody mood that is truly excellent. But over the course of the film the two develop a respect for each other. As a video trash action picture, this at least offers up all the chewed hearts, naked people, big guns and toothy monsters that you’d expect. Oh well, whatchya gonna do?

Dick's plenty competent as the newly assigned partner of Harley Stone (Rutger Hauer) as the beginning unfolds, but he clearly questions whether Harley is fully sane. Split Second is a great film for a rainy day or a late night feature. The villain's origins and motivations are never really explained, and the ending is a bit weak which from what I heard came from some pre-release cutting. Hauer's performance gives Stone some complexity, while the screenplay provides the character with a minimal, but nonetheless effective, backstory. His partner died by this "thing" that he is hunting and he has vowed to go after it always being just a step behind. They arrive at various conclusions until they catch sight of an 'Alien' style monster.

Although the movie didn't have a big budget, it overcomes that with great acting, suspenseful direction, witty dialogue, and good use of London locations. The ambiance was brilliant, the film was well-shot, the characters were cheesy and over-the-top.

As he always does. A policeman (Rutger Hauer) hunts a slimy monster ripping out hearts in 2008 London, which is wet from global warming. With the introduction of a new partner to watch over his shenanigans the two are on the hunt for a serial murder in "futuristic England" which apparently takes place in 2008.

Set in London, only in 2008, life has supposedly changed significantly when two cops find dead bodies with symbols carved into their chests.

Coming Soon, Regal For what it was, It was a damn good film. and the Terms and Policies,

Entertaining, but feels like it could have been so much more!

The Thames has risen, society is crumbling and the Metropolitan Police have started employing psychopaths like Rutger Hauer to track down serial killers.

I enjoyed the background details of this movie with all the anti-rat posters and the "PMS Shooting Range" (Ha! Split Second book. The nerve of some of you.

I watched this film years ago, when I was about 10. I thought the alien was good, and not cheesy or hokie looking, the idea of the flooding and constant raining was pretty clever, and the time frame was believable to me. There is mild nudity and a lot of ketchup (ie: fake blood) splashed about so you might want to keep the little ones away from this one. The film is tight and there aren't alot of wasted frames. This movie rocks. This movie is a classic and should be seen by everyone once. All the elements of great movies. The setting for this movie is very dark similar to Blade Runner and Rutger Hauer delivers another great performance. Copyright © Fandango. | Fresh (1)
